Nice to meet you!
Kia ora, I’m Daniel – also known as Deeev – a multidisciplinary designer working across graphic design, web design, photography, videography, illustration, 3D animation, and art direction. I bring versatility and creativity to every project, blending digital and analog techniques to craft distinctive, purpose-driven outcomes.
I graduated from Te Pūkenga (Otago Polytechnic School of Design) with a degree in Visual Design and Communication, and since then I’ve worked on a wide range of projects – from creating cover art and article illustrations alongside Critic magazine, to leading communications and design for the New Dunedin Hospital build. As part of the Southern Operational Readiness Team, I’ve developed illustrations, branding systems, videos, digital platforms, and campaign materials that help staff, stakeholders, and the wider community understand the hospital’s new spaces and models of care.
A key part of this work has been engaging with cultural design in a meaningful and respectful way. I have collaborated with Aukaha and mana whenua – the interior and façade design partners for the new Outpatient and Inpatient buildings – and this experience reinforced for me that true cultural expression in design cannot be approached in isolation. When it comes to Māori-centred work, collaboration with iwi and mana whenua is the only authentic and responsible way forward.
My practice is guided by curiosity, cultural sensitivity, and a passion for storytelling. By combining creative experimentation with collaborative values, I aim to create work that not only looks great but makes a lasting, positive impact.
